Single Hydrant Flow Test.
The Test will be Conducted as Follows
- Attach the Ultrasonic Flow Meter to the Hydrant Stand Pipe / Closest 2m Straight Section
- Set Up the Flow Meter - Pipe Diameter, Wall Thickness and Pipe Material
- Connect Pressure Gauge Assembly to Hydrant Head
- Fully Open the Hydrant - Record Standing Pressure (Zero Flow)
- Fully Open the Pressure Gauge Assembly - Record Flow Rate and Pressure
- Above Testing is done Hourly from 06h00 to 18h00
- Council Supply Averages based on 1 Test
If the Flow Rate exceeds 2400 l/m a Second Hydrant can be Opened to obtain a Reading with 2 Heads in Operation
Why an Ultrasonic Flow Meter?
- Ultrasonic flow meter is used to measure flow rates of clean liquid (liquid with not more than 5% solids or 2% gas) in pipes.
- Will work on most types of non-aerated liquids with low solid particle content such as water, seawater and most oils.
- The equipment comes with clamp-on transducers for non-invasive measurement.
- The unit uses two sensors, one that acts as an ultrasonic transmitter and the other as a receiver.
- The software calculates the time it takes for the ultrasonic pulse to pass from the transmitter to the receiver, which is dependent on the flow rate.
Ultrasonic Meter Specifications
- Pipe Diameter Range: 50mm - 300mm
- Sensor Dimensions: 318mm x 59mm x 85mm
- Operating Temperature: -30°C to 90°C
- Accuracy ±1% - 2% value of the reading (0.5 - 30m/s)
- Pipe Material
- Cast Iron
- Stainless Steel
- Ductile Iron
- Copper
- PVC
On Completion of the Flow Test, a Report will be Provided Specifying:
- Flow Rate - One Hydrant In Operation
- Optional - Flow Rate - Two Hydrants in Operation
- Standing Pressure of Hydrant (Zero Flow)
- Pressure at Flow Reading - One Hydrant Head in Operation
- Optional - Pressure at Flow Reading - Two Hydrant Heads in Operation
- Average Readings based on 1 Test.
